What is UGC NET?

Students in India who desires to join as an Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in the reputed and recognised government colleges and universities can attend a single exam for both the positions through UGC NET Exam. University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) exam is conducted by NTA (National Test Agency) since December 2018. But previously, before December 2018, the exam was conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

UGC NET Exam Analysis 2020

The UGC NET Exam 2020 started on September 24 and the ends on November 13. Usually, the exam conducts in two papers; Paper-I is general for everyone, whereas Paper-II held for the aspirants who choose 101 different subjects.

  • Shift-1: 9:00 AM-12:00 PM
  • Shift-2: 3:00-6:00 PM

Exam Dates

UGC NET Exam 2020 started on September 24th and end on November 13th and the exam will continue during the following days:

  • * September: 25, 29, 30
  • * October: 1, 9, 17
  • * November: 4, 11, 12 and 13

Paper-I: General for everyone. 

Most of the questions in the examination are based on Teaching and Research aptitude, covering 18-22 questions together. Questions based on Data Interpretation, Reasoning, People & Environment are easy to moderate level of difficulty

UGC NET Exam 2020 Admit Card

The UGC NET Exam admit cards for September 24, 25 are released on September 19, while the exams which are on September 29, 30 and October 1 released on September 24. The remaining admit cards will release later on days.

UGC NET Exam Eligibility 2020

Candidates should come under following categories:

  • 55% score in post-graduation, 50% for SC/ST
  • Shouldn’t exceed 30years age limit for JRF
  • No age limit for Assistant Professor position
  • Age Relaxation: 5yrs SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Transgender/Females
  • 5% aggregation of marks for reserved categories
  • Candidates who appeared and cleared to the State Eligibility Test (SET) before June 1, 2002, are not eligible.

UGC NET Exam Yearly Registration Trends

The candidates who appear for the UGC NET examination is increasing year by year with an overall appearance of the exam is 7lakhs+ in the year 2019 December. While in June in the same year, the estimated registrations are 9,42,419 with the average appearance of examination is 6,81,781.

UGC NET Exam Selection Process

  1. Apply for the UGC NET examination through online or offline mode.
  2. Download the admit card when it got released.
  3. Attend the examination with prescribed elements.
  4. Check the result of the exam.
